Elgin 0-Size Ladies Hunter w/ Chain C-1907 Item #13179 Price $425
Here is a very pretty ladies Elgin pocketwatch with a matching period necklace chain. The case features a scrolling wheat pattern with an intricate border surrounding the edges of the case. The front cover has been left unengraved, while the back cover was engraved with a great little house scene. The high quality gold filled hunter case is in very nice shape and measures 35.6mm across without the pendent. Great color to the gold fill with a slightly rosey tone. Very minimal evidence of use, and what little there is looks like "shelf wear" from storage over the years. It's clear this watch has been well cared for over its 111 years. The dust cover over the movement was engraved "Anna Null" in perfect script. The porcelain dial looks excellent with Roman numeral markers and fancy blued steel hands. A perfect glass crystal is the cherry on top! The signed 7 jewel movement looks to be a 0 size, with its serial number dating the watch to 1907.
The watch comes ready to wear on a matching 28-inch rope style chain. It has a rich gold color that tells us this chain is from around the same period (possibly slightly older). Newer gold fill just doesn't have the same richness of color and tends to look flat and brassy. This one has a deep color to it that really pops!
The watch comes fully serviced including a new mainspring. It's keeping very good time. We completely disassembled the case and ultrasonically cleaning it. We did no polishing or refinishing. The case looked so good as it is so we decided it was best to leave it that way.
A beautiful Edwardian style watch, ready to wear and enjoy for years to come!
