Hamilton 996 16-Size Pocketwatch Item #13210 Price $600

OVER 100 YEARS OLD!!!

Here we have a rarely seen “Railroad Grade” Hamilton 996 16s pocketwatch with an outstanding double sunk railroad style dial. The gold-fill Railroad case features screw on bezel and caseback. The case is made by Star Watch Case Co., and has some really wonderful detailing. It has some incredible striped damasking across the caseback, and a monogram block that was never engraved.

The double-sunk porcelain dial is in wonderful shape with no chips or hairlines. It features bold Arabic markers with red seconds track accents, and a set of blued steel hands.

Powering the watch is a Hamilton Caliber 966 movement with 19 jewels, marked “Adjusted to 5 Positions”. It also features a swan’s neck regulator and rose gold jewel settings throughout – even jeweled at the barrel. A very high grade movement, and a beautiful one too! The damasking is even fancier than the first generations of Hamilton Railroad grade movements. Take a look at the photos to see all of the wonderful damaskeening throughout.

The photos below are of the watch in its current, unrestored state. No polishing or refinishing has been done.

The price includes full restoration and repair. The work will be performed after purchase. This entails proper service of the movement, a new mainspring, and anything else that would be necessary to bring the watch into proper working order. Case cleaning and refinishing are also included. The extent of case refinishing, if any will be left up to the new owner.

Once you've made your purchase, please contact us so we may discuss the restoration.

Please allow 1-2 weeks after purchase for service to be completed.

Our goal is to achieve what we refer to as "Sympathetic Restoration"; in other words, bringing the watch back as close as possible to its original appearance without the need to remove all signs of its former life. We don't want to dramatically change its history.

During the restoration, we only use we only use period-correct parts, and in most cases, genuine factory parts from the same time period as the watch.
