Hamilton Model 22 Bureau of Ships US Navy Chronometer Item #13214 Price $1275
Here we have an excellent example of the famous Hamilton Model 22. The Model 22 is considered by many to be the finest lever escapement timepiece ever made by machine, considering construction quality and accuracy. Hamilton designed and built these for the military during World War II to aid in navigation. This one is all-original circa 1942 and in great condition inside and out.
The movement is a MASSIVE 35 size featuring 21 jewels and is adjusted to 6 positions and temperature. Its serial number is 2F7629. The movement is in very good condition with no rust or discoloration. The original Hamilton dial looks wonderful with just some very light, even aging. Most of these you'll come across aren't nearly as nice. The Keystone case is also in great shape given its age, and is signed "Bureau of Ships, U.S., N1390-1941, Chronometer Watch".
The price includes full restoration and repair. The work will be performed after purchase. This entails proper service of the movement, a new mainspring, and anything else that would be necessary to bring the watch into proper working order. The extent of restoration will be left up to the new owner.
Please allow 1-2 weeks after purchase for service to be completed.
