Hamilton Model 22 Ship's Chronometer Item #1633 Price $1425


This is an outstanding example of the famous Model 22. Considered by many to be one of the finest lever-escapement timepieces ever made. Hamilton designed and built these for the military during WWII to aid in Navigation. It comes complete with its inner and outer boxes. All original and in great condition. Even has its original leather strap for holding the outer box together.If you have been looking for one of these than you know most out there are in pretty bad condition. Not this one. All original and considering its age, outstanding inside and out.


The movement is a massive 35 size featuring 21 jewels and is adjusted to 6 positions and temperature. It is also signed "USN Bureau of Ships" and the serial number is 2F22580. The movement does have surface scratches, but otherwise in very good condition with no rust or discoloration. It has been serviced and is ruining well and keeping good time. Near perfect dial and hands. The case is also in great condition with just some light scuffs to the finish on the back. It still have its inner dust cover.


Both the inner and outer boxes are in superb condition and retain their original finish. The green felt lining is clean with on holes or stains. The crystal in the inner box is clear. All latches are complete and working as they should. Even the original instruction plaque is there. This is one of the best examples you will find and would be a wonderful addition to any collection.
