Omega Seamaster Automatic, 1950's Item #1742 Sold
Outstanding is the only way to describe the condition of this piece. When we received this watch the case looked like it had never been polished. Very minor signs of its 60 year history. All the case edges are sharp and the gold cap is in great condition. The watch is in all original condition. The dial and hands are untouched. The signed crown is correct for the period and a new signed Omega crystal has been installed.
These gold capped cases are very special since the thick gold top is placed over stainless steel. This makes for a much stronger, longer lasting finish.
Fully serviced and ready to wear this Seamaster Omega (case ref. #2846) represents maybe the best period in Omega's history (1950s). Great looking wide-lug gold capped over stainless steel case (34 mm) with signed crown. The movement is the famous cal. 500, 17 jewel, adjusted to two positions with automatic winding. These were built like tanks and even today, they are still very good timekeepers. The original finish two-tone dial has a matte finish silver outer track with more of an off white center. All the markers are applied including the Omega logo. The hands are original to the watch. This great looking, very collectable timepiece comes serviced and ready to wear. Complete with new brown leather strap.
