Longines Ultrachron Automatic w/ Date Item #2441 Sold
Here we have a very cool 1970’s Longines Ultrachron Automatic in stainless steel with a solid 10K Gold bezel. All original finish! We researched this model and the few others we found for sale were well worn. Nothing looked any where near as nice as this one! Simply outstanding given this watch is around 40 years old.
The watch is housed in a hefty stainless steel case that measures 37.2mm across without the crown, and 42.24mm from lug to lug. It also features a HUGE stainless steel, screw-down crown that is signed “Longines” along with the signature wings. Topping it all off is a solid 10K Gold fluted bezel that has never been polished. Take a look at those nice, sharp flutes!
The watch also features a great looking gold dial with sunburst finish and matching applied, faceted goldtone markers. Matching faceted goldtone hands and a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock complete the look.
The watch is powered by a Longines IN-HOUSE Caliber 431 Automatic movement with 17 jewels, marked adjusted to 3 positions. A very high grade movement for the period, and back when Longines was still making their own movements.
The watch comes in its original matching stainless steel bracelet with goldtone accents and signed, stainless steel clasp. There is some wear on the bracelet, as you’ll see in the photos. We think it is more from storage or “shelf wear” than from use.
The watch has just received a fresh service and is running strong and keeping very good time. Both the case and bracelet were cleaned, and lightly refinished by hand. We wanted to preserve that outstanding original finish as much as possible!
